Ulnes Walton Parish Council
– current position on the filling of existing vacancies.
The Council, at its meeting on July, 9th, confirmed its unanimous view
that the business of the Council could not be satisfactorily progressed
over the four year period covered by last May's elections with only four
members.
As a result of the advertisement indicating the Council’s intention to
fill the two current vacancies by co-option, five electors offered
themselves as potential co-optees.
Because of this level of interest and because members are anxious to
avoid any possibility of conflicts of interest arising or appearing to
arise in the selection process, the Parish Council, having taken advice
from the Borough Council, has resolved that an election is now the most
appropriate way to fill the vacancies.

Residents Surgery
The Parish Council welcomes and encourages comments from residents on issues
relating to the village or in connection with any item appearing on the agenda
of the monthly Parish Council meeting.
Council meetings are always preceded by a short time set
aside for residents to raise their questions or concerns. In order for the Clerk
and Councillors to give a considered response, it is necessary to give advance
warning of matters to be raised. This can be done by directly notifying the
Clerk in writing or by email, including a brief outline of the point/s to be
considered. This notification must be received by the Clerk no later than 12
noon of the Friday prior to any Parish Council meeting.

more...YOUR VILLAGE, YOUR FUTURE
Can you spare a few hours each month until February 2008, to help shape
the future of Ulnes Walton? The Parish Council has been successful in
obtaining a grant from Community Futures to undertake a review of the
Parish Plan published in 2004, but in order to do this, residents help is
required. The exercise is not on the same scale as the original, as such
the time commitment not extensive but will be worth while.
The underlying theme of the review is to be Community Wellbeing and
will focus on improving access to facilities and services including
housing; care of the elderly; NHS facilities; use of land etc.
The first public meeting to discuss establishing a Steering Group to
oversee the review will take place at the Old School on Monday 16 April
2007 at 7.00 pm.
If you feel you could help in any way or would like more information
please contact the Clerk by email as soon as possible or telephone Derek
Ormerod on 01257 451516.
Your contribution could make a lasting impression for the whole community.
