The Bee Awareness Day held on the 2 July 2005 proved to be a great success with many favourable comments being made about how enjoyable the event was.

So what did we learn?

  • How to make a bee and hive from willow
  • How to make a bee door hanger
  • What the Vikings used honey and bees wax for
  • How to role a candle
  • How to bounce really high on a castle
  • How good a cream tea is on a warm summers day
  • How bees make honey
  • Why the habitat of bumble bees is in decline
  • That the giant teddy’s name was McGonagall
  • How important it is to ‘bee safe’ on the country roads
