|
0 May 2004 Monday 10 May 2004 saw the official launch of the Parish Plan. The event took place at the Old School and was well attended by residents and those who contributed to its preparation. The evening began with a presentation by Judith Allnut from DaY (Douglas and Yarrow) Valley Action, who spoke about the work of the group and the possibilities of developing a clean up project for the River Lostock. Derek Ormerod the Chairman of the Parish Plan Steering Group then made a short speech thanking everyone involved worth the preparation of the plan and the celebration continued with refreshments. The event was covered by Radio Lancashire and articles appeared in a number of local news papers. Many of the issues targeted in the Plan will be addressed by the new community group "Action for Ulnes Walton". It is hoped as many residents as possible will be involved, if you would like to find out more about the group or volunteer help out with the project please let the Clerk to the Council know or any Parish Councillor. The Parish Plan should be arriving through letter boxes over the next few weeks and it is hoped that everyone will agree that its production is a real achievement for the parish and well worth the time and effort spent. Extra copies can be obtained from the Parish Council Clerk at a cost of £3 for residents and £5 (plus postage and packing) for none residents. The proceeds will go towards setting up "Action for Ulnes Walton" and cheques should be made payable to the group. |
