Youth Engagement Day - 'Funtertainment'

On Saturday 19 June 2010 we hosted a fabulous Youth Engagement Day entitled 'Funtertainment'.  The day was co-ordinated by a Working Party which consisted of not only Parish Councillors, but many volunteers from local community groups, Chorley Council, Young People Services at LCC and a team of young people from Wymott.

The event was organised to encourage youth engagement within the community, give children the opportunity to experience new and exciting activities and enable young people to work with the parish council and local community groups to connect with their community, empower them and inspire a positive impact and make their voices heard within the environment that they live in.  The day was a marvellous success and a full report and photographs is in our next newsletter - click here to view.

The young people meet each Monday evening at Wymott Social Club with Young People Services from Lancashire County Council.  If you are interested in getting involved with the group or would like to learn more about their plans to start a Youth Council in Ulnes Walton contact Karen Livesey in the first instance at Young People Services on 01257 470201.  Visit the YPS website to learn more about the service www.lancashire.gov.uk.yps
